4 CHORDS TO PLAY THE CLASH: How to Play “Should I Stay or Should I Go”

Should I Stay or Should I Go was a huge hit released in 1981 by the Clash. The song has a a lighthearted and kind of silly vibe to it. Like lots of Punk Rock songs it uses 4 chords. Where as lots of Punk Rock bands used lots of power chords, this song uses none. It uses the open position chords D, G and A, as well as a movable F chord.

If you haven't played an F chord yet I would check this out first: https://youtu.be/Qe_fBjDzVgM?t=833

As always remember that practice is called practice for a reason. Use this song to improve your ability to play the D, G, A and F chords as well as switching between them. Go slow and don't worry if you make mistakes or struggle with certain aspects of the tune. It's all part of the process of practicing and increasing our skills as a guitarist.
