About Pete

Pete Cornell is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and educator. A constant learner, Pete has studied numerous styles of music and is always looking for new pathways to explore and create. He has released albums under the moniker Pedrodomus and has played in bands that have toured the US and recorded with Grammy winning engineers. His latest project, 28 Seasons, is a four-piece band that blends Progressive Rock, Jazz and Metal. Their debut album was released June 2021.

When not writing or recording music Pete spends his time educating eager students of all ages. A patient and dedicated teacher, Pete finds he can learn and grow along with his students, and enjoys sharing his process and passion for making music. It is the diversity in his own education that separates Pete from other musicians. Not only classically trained, Pete has received a Bachelor’s in Music from New York University and a Master’s from the Music Conservatory at SUNY Purchase.

During his time at NYU Pete immersed himself in electronic music and composed pieces that blended electronics and traditional instruments. He also studied Jazz guitar with Mordy Ferber and modern composition with Dr. Youngmi Ha. After college Pete started the band Bend or Break which was eventually signed to a management deal and toured the country. His experience leading Bend or Break allowed him to hone his skills as a recording engineer as he produced the band’s two albums. Through it all Pete maintained a student base and grew as a teacher and overall musician before attending graduate school in 2015.

At Purchase Pete studied closely with Grammy wining producer Peter Denenberg and the decorated composer/producer Jakub Ciupinksi. He also immersed himself further in Jazz by studying with Jazz legend, John Abercrombie and Andy Laverne.

Pete now lives in the Hudson Valley and remains active as a producer and educator. He has composed and produced music for TV shows such as American Pickers and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, as well as continuing to produce and mix records out of his own studio. When not making music Pete can be found practicing yoga, rock climbing or testing out a new healthy and delicious recipe in the kitchen.
