What Will it Take?
This project was a collaboration for Thread, a nonprofit working in music therapy and outreach. This song was composed and produced remotely during the COVID-19 lockdown in April, 2020 by several individuals scattered around the NYC area. I was tasked with mixing it and am very happy with the results considering the limitations and challenges associated with the production. Due to the remote nature of the recording all the vocals were recorded using the mic apple earbuds or just the built in mic on participants’ phones/laptops. The piano was recorded using a built in laptop mic that was several feet from the upright piano that was used. All in all I think it was pretty illuminating as to how much our technology has advanced. Doing a project like this and getting the quality we got would have been impossible just a few years ago.
