Pentatonic Workout #1

4 Exercises to Improve Coordination, Speed & Fretboard Awareness

Every music teacher will tell you to practice your scales. The question becomes how should we practice scales, and how do we make practicing scales more fun and exciting? In this video we go over some common and uncommon approaches to playing minor pentatonic scales.

The 4 exercises included in this lesson are designed to work different aspects of your technique and will even help you internalize patterns and shapes on the fretboard. You will be skipping strings, playing multiple notes and once and even finding the connection between different shapes of the pentatonic.

The two shapes utilized in this lesson are the E and A string tonic patterns, also known as shape 1 & 4 of the minor pentatonic. If you are unfamiliar with these two patterns then I recommend checking out the previous video in which we go over those in detail: https://youtu.be/QByI1z7eiW0?si=2OvmaBmy5YpSB_cb
