In this video we go over 4 basic exercises that will help you learn and become more proficient playing minor pentatonic scales. The exercises get progressively more difficult, and a free TAB is included in the link below. A detailed explanation of what the Minor Pentatonic Scale is and how to play it can be found in my previous video: https://youtu.be/F84xh1OGTRw?si=y6wE14ZN09h98uHx

In that lesson we go over how to read a scale diagram, the different patterns for E and A Minor Pentatonic in an open position, and we touch on a bit of theory to give you a more complete understanding of the scale.

The Minor Pentatonic Scale might be the most important scale for a guitarist to learn. It is used in an array of styles like rock, blues, jazz, folk and pretty much any type of music you can think of. There are countless melodies, riffs and guitar solos that use the pentatonic scale, and luckily for us guitar players it is quite easy to get started. Knowing your pentatonic scale patterns will allow you to start soloing and will give you a better understanding of how your favorite riffs are crafted. It is also a great way to start learning the fretboard and how to find specific notes on different strings.
